PT on the recording of Who’s Next:
“Joe Walsh had just given me a really great Gretsch guitar, and I really got into solo playing quite a lot. Nicky Hopkins did a lot of keyboard work on that album, and most of the tracks were done live, just with piano, guitar drums and bass. What I was doing was overdubbing the rhythm guitar, and putting the solo guitar on while we were doing the tracks, which was a complete reversal, and was Glyn’s (Johns, producer) idea, which I thought was brilliant at the time.”
