Beginning in September 2006, Pete began using a Pete Cornish Custom Design custom effects board in place of his previous stand-alone compressor (MXR Super Comp) and overdrive (Boss OD-1) foot pedal effects.
This pedal was built by renowned custom builder Pete Cornish in August 2006 (Pete Townshend s/n 0601, built August 2006).
Pete also received a Pete Cornish Custom Design piezo/magnetic splitter (Pete Townshend s/n 0602, built August 2006) and power supplies from Pete Cornish Custom Design.
Pete received an updated pedalboard in January 2007 (Pete Townshend s/n 0609, built January 2007), which appears to be of the same spec as the first.
At some point mid-2010s, the original (0601) pedalboard was modified with an additional set of controls for input and output gain.
Pete places the custom effects pedal to the right of his microphone stand and uses the pedal along with Fender Vibro-King amplifiers, paired with his Fender Eric Clapton model Stratocasters. (See Fender Vibro-King for signal path details.)
The effects board contains:
Features:
- LED meter on the input and level controls.
- Nominal unity gain.
- Compressor modifications to accommodate the 25db active mid-boost on the guitar.
- Dual mono outputs (one to a Cornish splitter box; one in a line run as a spare for troubleshooting).
Controls:
- “Echo”:
- Knobs: Volume, repeats, input gain, tempo:
- Switch: Echo, Tempo
- “Drive” (overdrive):
- Knobs: Volume, Sustain
- Switch: On/off
- “Comp” (compressor):
- Knobs: Volume, Sustain
- Switch: On/off
