Whotabs site reorganisation!

Whotabs has been reorganised. It’s been a few years since the last redesign, and the site has grown considerably since that time, thanks to your contributions. Now, all pages are now at new, cleaner URLs, though all old links will be automatically redirected, and old bookmarks will continue to work. This was done to make the site more logically organised and make it easier to find pages within each section of the site. For example, all equipment pages are now in a new “gear” directory. And all tablature is in a new “tablature” directory. Plus, the tab files will now display in a more friendly format.

Along with the reorganisation, pages have been cleaned up, broken links fixed, and typos corrected. Plus, some new pages have been added, and the PA pages have been divided out into eras.

See below for details of all recent updates to the site. And if you happen to come across broken links or problems with the site due to the reorganisation, please contact us.

Whotabs returns

11 December 2006

To Whotabs’ faithful fans:

Thank you all for your support and encouragement during Whotabs’ downtime. When thewho.net crashed this summer, wiping out all data, I was in the unfortunate position of having my local file archives spread across three computers (believe me, I won’t do that again…). A subsequent move of my residence meant I had to wait to get the old PC that had the most archive files reconnected and everything sorted out amongst the three collections.

With the new album out and Whotabs’ fans’ interest continuing apace, I have finally over the last week gotten everything together and re-uploaded to the site.

Whotabs has been going since 1997, and there’s a lot of info and images amassed in these pages (with many thanks due to all who contribute). But because of its large size, and the fact that my archive files weren’t all in the same place, there may be some rough spots around the site, especially with images in the Gear sections.

So if you happen across any broken links or pages that look a bit off, please complete the feedback form and I’ll try to address them as soon as possible. Further, if you have submitted tab files or gear updates since June, I would request that you resubmit them to me also via the feedback form.

Again, many thanks to all for your support, readership and contributions.

Whotabs, the definitive online tablature resource, goes live!

5 June 1997

Gary Leeke broadcasts the following note to the Who mail and usenet groups:

As some of you may remember, Litgo and myself have been working hard to get a database of Whotabs together since the demise of Kenny Sahr’s site. I’m hoping to complete work on the new Who guitar tabs site by Sunday, so if anybody has any who tabs to submit — please do so now! We still have some empty categories so if anybody has any bass tabs, stb, or John Entwistle tabs handy, do get in touch!

13 April 1997

Gary Leeke broadcasts the following note to the Who mail and usenet groups:

The Who Guitar Page is once again up and running. However, it’s currently a skeletal framework and much work still has to be done on it (graphics to be incorporated etc...) so please bear with us.
We are also in the process of updating and correcting many tabs so we can only apologize if your required material is not currently available.
Please drop by regularly to check on the progress: http://www.schoolsucks.com/thewho/

13 March 1997

Gary Leeke broadcasts the following note to the Who mail and usenet groups:

Kenny, Litgo and myself are currently relocating ‘The Who Guitar Page’. We are hoping to expand the site and are therefore looking for fresh tabs for inclusion on the new site.
Especially wanted:
Previously untabbed Who songs & Solo Pete Townshend tabs
Solo Roger Daltrey tabs
Simon Townshend tabs
Please e-mail me privately if you have anything to contribute.
